Moab Area Rock Art IV
Presidents Day | Monday, February 21, 2011
Since I had Presidents Day off ffrom work and the weather was going to be nice, Jackson and I headed to the Moab area to search out some more rock art, plus to just do some general exploring and hiking. We couldn’t have asked for a better day in February and we managed to find quite a bit of rock art.
First up was the ‘Secret Grotto’ Hmm, what’s down in that crack?
Hey, look at that! Rock art hidden down here 🙂
Jackson in the ‘grotto’
Some more pictographs we found after leaving the ‘Secret Grotto’
This Barrier Canyon Style pictograph panel was probably my favorite find of the day 🙂 It was a bit tough to get a good shot of it, though….
Here’s me taking the previous photo….this photo was taken by Jackson
We headed over to Secret Spire to do a little more hiking and exploring…
Apparently, someone thought there was something worth searching for in this alcove at some point…
A few more petroglyphs we stopped by on our way back into town before heading home.
A great way to spend President’s Day!
