Instead of spending all weekend wheeling and exploring, I had to spend most of the day today taking care of some routine maintenance on my Jeep. Besides the routine stuff, I also finally got my new driveshaft installed. After getting it back on the road, the minor vibes I had before at higher speeds have completely gone away 🙂
I also ‘finally’ got my Winchline.com synthetic winch cable and aluminum fairlead installed, too.

Well, my old rear driveshaft has lasted me over 4 years now on two different Jeeps and taken a lot of abuse. However, lately it has been giving me problems, especially at highway speeds. It was time for me to do something about it.
I was originally planning on saving some money by bringing it to a local driveline shop and having them rebuild it. However, after visiting both drivline shops here in Grand Junction and getting some estimates, I quickly found out it would be cheaper for me to buy a brand new driveshaft from Tom Woods….so that’s what I did.
Just came today…though I am proably not going to replace it until after my trip to the San Rafael Swell this weekend, since I will be towing my rig there. But here’s a picture for now.

Here’s what caused me to not finish my radiator install on Saturday…
New isolators came today.

Well, I managed to get my radiator in today….but the radiator isolators and electric fan fell apart when I took them out. So that set me back for now. After a bunch of stops, I did manage to find a fan at the second AutoZone I stopped at. Unfortunately the isolators are not as easy to find and the dealer did not have them in stock, so I have to wait until Tuesday for those.
Couple pics from the day. Hopefully I can finish up Tuesday after work.
