While driving through Crystal on Saturday I noticed a house with a sign in the front advertising local books for sale and there was an open sign on the door so I decided to stop and go in. Well, it turns out that this was the author’s house (Roger A. Neal) and he had a few books for sale in his kitchen. I ended up buying the one about Crystal. We talked with Roger a few minutes about the area before we continued on our way.

Part of the reason for our Moab trip this weekend was to stop at Back of Beyond Books to pickup some local books that I had on my wishlist. Lucky for me, they had a lot of the books on my list, and for great prices as well 🙂

When we were at ColoradoFest a few weekends ago, we stopped at a general store in Buena Vista to look for some books on the local history. We got lucky and found two books that I picked up. One on this history of the small ghost town of St. Elmo and one about Buena Vista. Both books were written by Suzy Kelly, and the St. Elmo book was co-written with Charlotte Merrifield. I have finished reading both and they contain a lot of good information and stories about the area.

I picked up a few Moab 4-WD Trailguides written by Jack Bickers over the past few weeks. They contain a lot of good info on some lesser known trails in the Moab area that I am looking forward to checking out when it cools down just a little bit 😉
The Labyrinth Rims: 60 Accesses to Green River Overlooks
40 Grand Trails from Deadhorse Point Road
Tenmile! Nearby Canyon of Mystery
