Mountains of Silver

While in Silverton last weekend, Amanda was nice enough to buy me another book about the area. The full title of the book is Mountains of Silver: Life in Colorado’s Red Mountain Mining District written by P. David Smith. I have read a few other books by Smith on the area and they have all been good.

I have almost finished this book and have not been disappointed. There is a lot of great info on the Red Mountain Mining District in here. It’s especially a good read for me since we did some exploring in the Red Mountain Mining District last weekend.

Backcountry Adventures Colorado is here!

One month ago today I pre-ordered my copy. I just received my copy today from UPS. This book is much nicer than the previous versions as it has better topographic maps, more trails and a nice hardcover to help keep it protected. I look forward to exploring all of the trails in it 🙂

You can order your very own copy here.

Few more books showed up today.

Amazon.com has been good to me this week…..as I got a few more books today….and since I didn;t end up having to work today, I finished one, too.

Here’s what I got. These books should help me research for future trips 🙂

Sandstone Spine: Seeking the Anasazi on the First Traverse of the Comb Ridge

In Search of the Old Ones

Jeep Trails to Colorado Ghost Towns

A Guide to Southern Utah’s Hole-in-the-Rock Trail (This is the book I already read, so stay tuned for a review of it in the near future)

Uncompahgre: A Guide to the Uncompahgre Plateau

Just thought I would share that I got yet another new book (still have a few more on the way). Guess I’ll be reading a lot now 😉

This book is about the Uncompahgre Plateau between Grand Junction and Ridgway, Colorado. I went over this plateau last year on my trip across Colorado and wanted to start doing some more exploring up there again. This book covers a lot of the history of the plateau, plus the names of geographic features and where to find everything. I can’t wait to get started reading this book and then finding these places myself 🙂
