Footwear.

Time for some new shoes and boots. I have been wearing Dr. Martens boots for the last 12+ years, however, they were bought out a few years ago and changed from being hand-made in England to being made in China. From that point, their quality had gone way down. I finally decided it’s time to try something different, especially since I am doing more hiking and other outdoor activities.

After some research, I ended up going with a light weight and waterproof hiking boot, along with a pair of waterproof cross-trainers.

The hiking boots I got are the Keen Targhee II Mid:

The cross-trainers I ended up getting are the Merrell Moab Gore-Tex XCR:

Both pairs are very comfortable. I’m looking forward to testing them out 🙂 Hopefully they live up to their waterproof and breathable claims. If I have any issues with either, I’ll be sure to post up my problems here.

Back from the Uinta’s

If you haven’t figured it out by now, I am home from my weekend in the Uinta Mountains. I had a great time at the InterMountain Chapter’s Geostash Challenge event and will get around to that trip report after I finish my Colorado report that I started. As you can tell from some of the pictures I took this weekend, the weather was crazy. Not only was it cold, but we got a good amount of snow on Saturday, too!

I’m hoping to get working on finishing the Colorado Adventure trip report tomorrow, but for now I’m exhausted from the weekend and am heading to bed.

Heading to Utah!

I’m leaving from work this afternoon and heading straight to northern Utah for the weekend. The Intermountain Chapter of NAXJA is holding their annual Geostash Challenge event in the Uinta Mountains.

That means there won’t be anymore updates or continuations of my Colorado Adventure 2009 trip report until sometime next week. Sorry for the delay, but I’ll get around to it as soon as I get back.

As usual, I’ll have my SPOT on, so feel free to follow me 🙂

I’m home!

…after 9 days exploring the mountains…..I’m exhausted!

Now onto the task of going through all the photos I took and putting up some more detailed trip reports from each day….so stay tuned for those. Hoping to get some up this week…but we’ll see.

I also have a bunch of GPX tracks from all of the trails I ran, so I should be putting together a lot more train information pages soon as well. Lots of good stuff to come 😉

Nine Days

Leaving bright and early tomorrow for nine days in the mountains. I’ve got a lot planned, so expect a lot of photos when I return 😉

I’m hoping to upload some preview photos from my iPhone along the way (when I have signal), so check back for those!

Don’t forget you can track me with my SPOT and follow along, too.
