I just got home a little while ago from rafting on the Gunnison from Escalante Canyon to Bridgeport (Dominguez Canyon) for a few hours this morning. It was a great time. I had my SPOT on the whole trip, so you can see my track on the ‘SPOT Me’ page above.
Now I am heading out to run the Kokopelli Trail with a small group from ExpeditionUtah over the next two days. I should be home sometime on Monday. I’ll have my SPOT on the whole trip, so feel free to follow along!

Here’s the newest addition to our family! Dominguez the kitten. He’s 7 weeks old and very cute.
I promised Amanda she could get a new kitten for her birthday last week, and we ended up picking Dominguez up from Glade Park this evening. We named him after Dominguez Canyon, and figure that we can nickname him ‘Domino’ 😉 Now onto the pictures…

For her birthday, Amanda wants to head out to Goblin Valley State Park in Utah. Neither of us have been there before, so it should be a good time. We will be basing our trip out of Hanksville and hitting Goblin Valley tomorrow for a while. We’re leaving now and hoping to make it to Hanksville before dark.
I’m also hoping to hike part of Little Wild Horse Canyon and maybe even get over to the Hidden Splendor Mine….we’ll see.
Don’t forget, you can use the ‘SPOT Me’ link above to see where we are at…..and this time it will not be around the Moab area 😉

We’re headed out to Moab for the weekend….our SPOT will be on so you can track us if you like. We’re planning on heading into town through Gateway for the first time this season 🙂
Pictures when we get back, of course 😉

I ordered a new little gadget earlier this week that showed up today. I figured a ‘netbook’ would make a great little laptop to use around the house and on my trips to get internet access, without having to lug around my bigger laptop. It would also allow me to get my photos off my memory cards for my camera on longer trips so that I do not run out of space.
I ended up going with the Asus Eee PC 1000HE. Here’s a few of the main specs:
- Intel Atom N280 1.66GHz processor
- 160GB 5400 RPM Hard Drive
- 12GB of DDR2 RAM (667MHz) (I upgraded from 1GB for only $20)
- 10†WSVGA LED-Backlit 1024 x 600 LCD
- SD Card Reader
- Webcam (1.3 MP)
- Battery: 7.2v 8700mAh 6-cell 63Wh battery (9.5 Hours)
- Wireless: 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.0
….and all of that is in a very small package with a very usable keyboard and screen….running Windows XP Home.
The actual size of the netbook is: 10.47†x 7.3†x 1.12-1.50â€S
So far I am really enjoying this netbook and think it will work great for me out in the field, as well as around the house.
