Milky Way Attempt

We headed up to the Colorado national Monument tonight after the moon set so we could watch the Perseid Meteor Shower. The sky was nice and dark and we were able to see a bunch of meteors. It was also dark enough that we could see the Milky Way above us as well. Here’s my attempt at a photo of the Milky Way. If you look closely, you will also see I got a a meteor in the photo as well. Click on the photo to enlarge it so you can see the details much better.

Narrow Gauge

While waiting for Amanda, her mom and sister to arrive in Silverton from Durango I heard the train heading into the valley. I walked over to the tracks just in time to snap a photo of the trail coming into town. We still need to take the time to ride this train sometime. I also need to point out that as of today, I am now half-way though my 30-365 photo project.

Rays Over the Monument

After hiking up the Liberty Cap Trail and then back down the Corkscrew Trail the sun started to set behind the monument and for a few minutes there were some cool sun rays shining from out behind it. Luckily I had my camera with me.

Chipmunks

We headed up onto the Grand Mesa this morning and stopped off at the Lands End Observatory so we could feed and photograph some chipmunks. Here’s one of the photos I took.
